GC Times: DiCicco preps for first year as assemblyman

December 7, 2009

Citing that the state’s budget shortfall “tripled to $1.2 billion,” 4th District Assemblyman-elect Domenick DiCicco is eager to start working to solve the New Jersey’s ongoing fiscal crisis, calling the problems “symptomatic of a lack of transparency we had.”

“I’m anxious to get in there to start creating solutions to the problem. It’s clear to me that some very hard decisions are going to have to be made regarding the budget and that the magnitude of the problem has been well hidden by the outgoing administration and the real numbers are surfacing, literally every day…

“The state is in a dire financial strait. Frankly, it’s going to get worse before it gets better. With that challenge comes the opportunity to get it right. That’s where I hope we’ll be able to craft legislation with the current Legislature and the governor-elect (Chris Christie) to be able to tackle the fundamental problems and really set the groundwork to stabilize our fiscal house for the future.”
