Camden County GOP to Camden NAACP: We Welcome You!

January 15, 2010

State Senator-To-Be Assemblyman Donald Norcross

Next week Donald Norcross will become the next senator from New Jersey’s fifth legislative district.  It is no secret Colandus “Kelly” Francis, head of the Camden NAACP chapter, is disappointed that the Camden County Democrats have chosen a caucasian man to assume the position.  We share his disappointment, but not his view of our party.  When the Philadelphia Inquirer asked him why he and like-minded leaders were not putting the same kind of pressure on the Republican Party, Francis said,

“The Republican Party is nonexistent. Sometimes they don’t even field candidates. The Democratic Party controls the seat.”

The Camden County GOP would welcome and embrace a NAACP supported candidate to run for office in the fifth legislative district.  We work hard to recruit candidates and  fully embrace diversity.  This is not some thing we say, it is something we do!

The Camden County GOP has run racial minorities for legislative and county-wide office in each of the last 3 years.  In 2009 the party ran Gene Lawrence for Assembly in the fourth legislative district and Stepfanie Velez-Gentry in the fifth legislative district.  In 2008 Alice Wood and Mary Cortez ran as Republicans for county freeholder.  In 2007 Edward Torres was on the ballot for an Assembly seat in the fifth legislative district  and Alice Wood was a candidate for county freeholder.  No one pressured the party to run these candidates.  We wanted them to run and we wanted them to win.

Unfortunately, none of these Republican candidates won their seats.  They all ran supporting the principles of open, transparent and good government that is responsive to the people.  We hope that, in the future, the NAACP will get to know our candidates, and how they can make a positive change for the community.

Furthermore, we welcome candidates supported by Kelly Francis and the Camden East NAACP.   We know the NAACP has members that believe in open and good government that is responsive to the community, and our party wants to meet them and support their candidacy.  We also welcome the opportunity to work with Francis to register more Republicans for open, transparent and honest government in the City of Camden.  One of the things thing our party shares with Kelly Francis is a hope for increased prosperity for Camden’s citizens.

This is an insult to the people of Camden. Norcross and his brother are the same two people who destroyed that city. This man ran the Unions. Slaves lived better than the people in this city live today and that is because of the irresponsible, poorly run leadership of these destructive, arrogant men who have raped this city from financial funds, hope and the ability to have a chance to work and live successfully. They have tried to divide and conquer african americans against each other like they did back in the days when slaves sold each other out. Norcross uses jobs, contracts, titles and other means to get people to go against each other. Because of the lack of industry and businesses in the County, Norcross maintains control by keeping anything he Can’t control out. This is why South Jersey (Camden County in particular) is nothing more than a dump. This man says SJ never gets anything. He has spent up the millions and left it destitude. He is a disgrace, a sham a real hot mess and hopefully he will be behind bars soon and so will the rest of his puppets and followers. There is no place for his nonesense anymore. It’s time we get him and his brother out of politics. They have Embarrassed our State.

Mayor Mayer has no regards for African Americans, he just like the rest of his good ole boy friends.
