Our Imperial President

March 20, 2010

Barrack Obama

In response to a question from Bret Baier of Fox News, Barack Obama stated that his vision of universal health care should pass because,

“it is the right thing to do.”

This simple statement is intellectually empty, but reveals everything that needs to be known about the thought process of the current President of the United States. Every leader with a strong authoritarian streak can provide the same justification for any action at any time.
“The right thing to do” was the pretense for those who wished to maintain the practice of slavery throughout time, those who engage in violent jihad, and the actions of any tyrant from history.

In this case the words of Mr. Obama not only self-justify his actions, they also provide his rationale for overwhelming the will of the taxpaying public, ignoring people who question the ability of the government to big things well, and citizens who maintain the Founding Father’s healthy skepticism about centralized authority.
