Cindy Rau-Hatton gets Highland Outstanding Alumni Service Award

May 16, 2010

This past week Highland High School held its annual  Senior Awards banquet.  At this banquet  the prestigious “Highland Outstanding Alumni Service Award”  is given to a deserving recipient.

This year the award was presented to former Gloucester Township Mayor, Cindy Rau-Hatton.  Mayor Hatton was nominated by Gloucester Township Committeewoman Joanne Carr and Committeeman and former Black Horse Pike School Board President John Custodio.

Mayor Hatton was the first Highland graduate to be elected as Mayor of Gloucester Township and was honored by the Alumni Committee for her years of service to Gloucester Township.

During Mayor Hatton’s acceptance remarks she encouraged the graduating seniors to continue to serve their communities, to give back, to make a difference and to work hard to make their town a better place to live.  She thanked the Alumni Committee and especially thanked the Teachers of Highland High School that gave her the foundations for life.

Republicans across Camden County are thankful for Mayor Cindy’s contributions to good government.  unfortunately,  many residents of Gloucester Township are now feeling the effects of her departure.

As a personal friend of Cindy, I think the award is much deserved. Cindy faced constant harassment in her tenure as Mayor, but not once let a persons politcal affiliation effect her work ethic. Cindy was truly the “People’s” Mayor and her moves as Mayor will be seen for years to come. I have served alongside of Cindy with the environmetal group “CARE” and know first hand how diligent Cindy is. If she believes she can help people, she will fight tooth and nail to see if done. Congratulations Cindy, Linda and me are proud to call you our friend.
