I’m Just a Little Ticked Off!

May 23, 2010

The past month or so has been really, really busy as I’ve been traveling up and down the state, as well as other locales all over this great country of ours.  America is truly an amazing place.

And then there’s our great state of New Jersey.  I love New Jersey, which is why there is so much that I see that just makes me angry.  Here are just some of the things that I’ve seen:

Camden County Road Repair Signs.  We all know how bad this winter was.  All the snow must be because of global warming, right? (Yes, that is sarcasm!).  The reality is that the winter has done a number on our roads.  Sometimes I feel like I’m taking a defensive driving course instead of driving to work.  And the men and women on the road crews have been doing an amazing job.  In a little over a week the basically repaved an entire main road running through several towns in Camden County.

And then there’s the signs that state “A Service of the Camden County Board of Chosen Freeholders”  Really, a service? Dictionary.com defines a service as an act of helpful activity; help; aid.  And here I thought that one of the responsibilities of our Freeholders is to keep our roads safe and drivable.  They aren’t doing us the favor they are telling us they are doing.  And by the way, it’s not brought to you by the Freeholders.  They way the sign is written makes is sound like they’re paying for the projects out of their own pockets.  They’re using taxpayer money.  My money and your money.  Big thumbs down to the Freeholders.

State Senate President Stephen Sweeney has refused to hold hearing for Governor Chris Christie’s nominee for the State Supreme Court.  Elections have consequences and one of those consequences is that the Governor gets to nominate judges for the State Supreme Court.   Instead, Senator Sweeney wants to play politics to keep justices on the court who have legislated from the bench in support of Sweeney’s big government agenda.  Want an example, read up on the Abbott decision that has cost the taxpayers of New Jersey millions of dollars.  He may not like it, but Sweeney has a duty to hold hearings and an up or down vote.  I think the reason he doesn’t want to hold hearings is that he knows that if he gives Anne Patterson, Christie’s nominee, a hearing, she will be confirmed.  Either that or he really doesn’t care that the people are fed up with Sweeney and the Democrat’s tax and spend philosophy.

Finally, the Democrats in the US Senate who today gave Mexican President Felipe Calderon a standing ovation when he ripped the United States for it’s immigration policy, and more specifically the new Arizona law. I wonder if Congressman Rob Andrews missed today as, unlike Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano, he was taking time to read all ten pages of the law before opposing it.  Of course, our elected officials have  probably never read Mexico’s immigration laws either, which are much more harsh than ours.

Those are just some of the things that have ticked me off on my travels.  Are you ticked at something you’ve seen? I’d love to here about it!

That’s my opinion, I’m sticking to it.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Those signs have always bothered me as does all their other advertising. I would really like to know what they spend on those signs, newsletters and TV ads. And another thing, if they didn’t use such cheap materials and did the job correctly the first time, the same pot holes wouldn’t keep appearing every year. They are not only misleading the people, they are cheating the people.

The County workers are not even doing the repaving. The Freeloaders contracted that “service” out to Asphalt Paving Systems. Look them up at the NJ ELEC website. They have donated about $98,000.00 to Camden County Dumbocrats since 2001. Hmmmmmmm

I have called the Cherry Hill Public Works twice to complain about the many potholes in Cherry Hill and still nothing has been done. CH has incresed Property Taxes and nothing has been done to repair the roads. Camden County
Free Holders are a joke. And so is our Mayor!
