DiCicco: McKeon Blaming Residents For Tax Increases Is Outrageous

July 11, 2010

Domenick DiCicco

Assembly Republican Domenick DiCicco, R-Gloucester and Camden, said last week’s remarks by Assemblyman John McKeon, D-Essex, on a NJ101.5 radio interview saying that voters who elect officials who have raised their taxes over the years are responsible for their plight defies reason and is a typical Democrat response to a problem.

“Blaming citizens who elect officials at either the state or local level for tax increases is a feeble attempt at diverting responsibility from those who should be held accountable,”

said DiCicco.

“The assemblyman’s convoluted remarks are disingenuous and a weak attempt to avoid telling the truth. “Voters elect officials to represent their best interests and make our state an affordable place to live,”

continued DiCicco.

“Based on the Democrat’s record on that issue I’m not surprised the assemblyman is trying to deflect blame. They have increased spending over the last eight years that has crippled families struggling to survive and paid for it by imposing 115 taxes and fees and using the government credit card as though there were no limit. ”

“It is no coincidence that Assemblyman McKeon has been a member of the Legislature for that long. The truth is New Jersey’s citizens are the victims of these failed public policies. Put the blame where it belongs – on Democrats who can’t control spending because they just can’t say ‘no.’”

Is that not the pot calling the kettle black? Assembly McCeon has been in the legislature for all those tax/fee increases. Is he trying to say he voted against all of them? I seriously doubt that. If so, why have we not hear him complain about it until now? I think he should see a neurologist as soon as possible. He seems to be suffering from some sort of amnesia.

The fact that McKeon accused the voters of being responsible for ever increasing property taxes is an interesting tidbit but, did anyone ever expect a democrat to take responsibility for their actions?

No, I don’t expect the democrats to take responsability except for ideas presented by republicans, but McKeon has sunk to a new low when he blames the voters that votted HIM in. DiCocci is right, the voters voted for people to represent them and to keep their campaign promises. The democrats have done neither and now they want to blame the VOTERS. They run out of people to blame. This shows how desperate they are if they must blame the people who elected them for their voting. Did I miss the rallies where people asked these increases? I do remember speaking at a rally against the sales tax increase. Where was McKeon then? Oh! That’s right! He was voting for all that spending and tax increases.
