Today, First District Congressional Candidate Dale Glading sharply criticized Rep. Rob Andrews for statements he made in a recent Star-Ledger interview.  In an interview with the newspaper’s editorial board, Mr. Andrews claimed that America’s chances for success in Afghanistan are “a little better than 50-50” and that “the issue is whether we can pacify al Qaeda and the Taliban.”

“For Rob Andrews to suggest that we pacify a terrorist organization like al Qaeda and give in to the Taliban is unconscionable,” Glading said.  “His comments are an affront to every American citizen, and especially to our brave servicemen and women.”

“I can’t believe that Rob had the audacity to make these irresponsible comments, let alone to release them on the 4th of July,”

 Glading added.

“Rob owes an apology to every South Jersey family that has lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan.”

In the interview, Andrews, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, also admitted that as many as 75,000 troops may have to remain in Afghanistan for more than two years.  That scenario is in direct conflict with President Obama’s previously announced plan to start drawing down American troops next July.

For years, Rob Andrews has been part of the problem for New Jersey and Washington politics and New Jersey taxpayers. Within the past eighteen months, he has basically existed as a functional rubber stamp for Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, and the runaway train wreck that Washington has become.

Dale Glading is precisely the candidate that the taxpayers need. His honest and basic approach to government will provide the necessary restraint that is needed to reign in big government spending, and return fiscal sanity to Washington.
