No Tax Payer Bail Outs for the Camden City Library.

August 9, 2010

The Camden County Freeholders and Camden City Mayor Dana Redd announced a press conference to unveil the freeholder plan to save the Camden City library system.  Voters should be skeptical that this is more irresponsible spending that the county tax payers cannot afford.

“I am awaiting the announcement of this so-called plan,”

says Scot DeCristofaro, freeholder candidate,

“As a county we can ill afford to bail out Camden City.   The freeholders need to devise a plan to fund job growth in Camden County.  Throwing good money after bad is the tired plan of Ed McDonnell and his cronies on the freeholder board.”

Dana Redd assumed control of the City from the state in January and she already has her hand out looking for money. This leaves the people wondering, “Why should our property tax dollars go to fund a library in Camden City?”  If the city libraries fail under Redd’s leadership the residents of Camden can use the Camden County library system.

“I hope the freeholders reveal their ‘plan’ for the rest of the towns that are struggling with library funding,”

notes Camden County Republican Chair Rick DeMichele,

“I think the people of Cherry Hill, Pennsauken, Haddonfield and Voorhees are interested in knowing how Ed McDonnell and the Camden County freeholders are going to help their local libraries.”

If we have learned anything form Washington it is that bailouts do not work.  Instead of taking an Obama like approach to the problem the freeholders need to cut spending and focus on attracting employers that will get Camden County back to work.

Vote Leone-Zwillinger for Surrogate and Zallie and DeCristofaro for freeholder – they will guard our tax dollars and focus on job creation.

Why not merge the Camden City Library with Cherry Hill’s Library? A library consortium if you will. That should please the party boss. Why should Merchantville be the only small town in Camden County to be absorbed by Cherry Hill and derive benefits?

Looks like the Freeholders are doing exactly what President Obama is doing take over everything and expect the people to do nothing. I wonder if this is part of their plan when the Freeholders split the county between themselves.

Camden County’s freeholders have demonstrated repeatedly that they have no concern for the taxpayers. From no-show to low-show jobs for political cronies, to recycling politicians through various government entities, they have clearly shown that they exist to serve themselves only.

How many “bailouts” has the State given Camden City in the past? Police/Fire Fighters…properties? And the City is still a wretched mess! Throwing good money after bad! What will it take to clean that place up?…maybe a REPUBLICAN government for a start?
