DiCicco: Lavish Spending At DRPA Reinforces Need For Change

The latest details of extravagant spending by executives at the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) as reported in yesterday’s Philadelphia Inquirer further reinforces the need to change the authority’s rules contained in the federal charter and overhaul the leadership in DRPA’s front office said Assemblyman Domenick DiCicco.

“Executives at the DRPA have set an example that no one should follow,”

said DiCicco. 

“The authority has a lot of gall recommending a $1 toll increase that will help pay for stays at posh hotels and taking a course on ‘lean government.’  Based on the expenses detailed in the news report, those who took the course must have failed it.

“The public has had more than enough of these accounts and is entitled to see changes in the way the DRPA operates and new faces leading it,”

continued DiCicco.

“In August, Pennsylvania State Representative Mike Vereb and I introduced bi-state legislation changing the agency’s federal charter that would adopt an open records policy and require periodic audits.

“The over-the-top expenses run up by those who should be setting an example at the DRPA are one more example that a total overhaul is needed.  In order to restore respect and confidence at the DRPA, policy reforms are a must and a total change in leadership is needed,”
