Allen Supports A Statewide Winter Outerwear Drive

November 12, 2010

Diane Allen

Homeless to Independence Inc. will be holding their 5th Annual New Jersey Statewide Winter Outerwear Drive. Senator Allen’s Office will be participating as a drop-off location at 11 West Broad Street, Burlington, NJ 08016 from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday (except holidays).

Senator Allen is happy to help this non-profit volunteer based organization in its effort to help those in need.  The Senator has worked with the homeless for more than 25 years, serving on Boards of organizations that serve the homeless, as well as working on the streets to try to help those in need move to transitional housing – or at the very least to try to keep them fed, warm and safe.

Items being collected are coats, jackets, sweaters, thermals, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, boots, blankets, and sleeping bags. Items are needed for men and women up to size XXXL as well as children and infant sizes. This is a great opportunity to clean out unwanted clothing and help people in need this winter.

The drive will run through December 31st, 2010. All donations are greatly appreciated. Other drop-off points can be found on www.homelesstoindependence.org.  All of the items collected at Senator Allen’s office will be redistributed to Burlington County.
