Runyan sheds the “elect” title today!

We will be live blogging from Washington DC today as Jon Runyan becomes the newest congressman from New Jersey.  The oath will be administered at noon today.

A group of dedicated Republicans will witness this historic moment from Congressman Runyan’s DC office.  We will cover all the action from Jon’s Longworth Office so check back regularly.

9:59 Just arrived in DC. 2 hours 28 minutes by car. No Traffic!

10:48. The line to get into the Longworth Building is very very long. The security screening takes too long. Entered the Cannon Building and used the underground tunnel to get to Longworth. No security wait at the Cannon Building. Smart!

11:05 In Congressman Runyan’s Office. He just arrived. The press has already started interviewing him. Jon is now talking with ABC 6.

11:45 The clock in the office just buzzed and lit up. They are summoning the congressman elect to the floor of the house.

12:01 The 112th Congress is now in session.

12:14 The crowd gathered in Jon’s office has just spotted him on TV.  Exciting!

12:37 Rep Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) is now giving a nomination speech for Rep John Boehner (R-OH) to be the next Speaker.

12:43 Rob Andrews just voted for Nancy Pelosi.  Typical!

1:12 Jon Runyan casts his first vote for John Boehner to be the Speaker of the House for the 112th Congress.

2:05 Speaker Boehner begins his remarks to the US House of Representatives.

2:17 It’s official Jon Runyan has taken his oath.

3:06 Congressman Runyan returns to his office and scores of supporters.

    A lot is expected of this new group of Representatives. I hope they have the integrity and courage to make a difference and that we are not disappointed………………….. again.
